Compliance Manager (Head of Compliance)
Location: Reading (commutable from London, with hybrid 1 day in the office)
Salary: £80,000 – £100,000 base + bonus + pension contribution
About the Role:
My client, an insurance appointed representative, is seeking a Compliance Manager to effectively serve as the Head of Compliance for their business. Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer at the group level, you will have Executive Committee relationships and take full ownership of regulatory compliance responsibilities.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a Deputy Compliance professional looking to step into a leadership role without the formal Senior Manager Function designation but performing all associated responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Regulatory Advisory: Provide compliance guidance across all areas of the business, collaborating with teams such as customer services, sales directors, and actuaries.
- Policy Development: Create and maintain compliance policies and frameworks to ensure adherence to FCA regulations.
- Financial Promotions: Review and approve financial promotions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Complaints Handling: Manage complaints processes and ensure alignment with regulatory expectations.
- Data Protection: Oversee GDPR compliance and other data protection-related requirements.
- AML Compliance: Develop and maintain anti-money laundering controls and processes.
- Monitoring and Analysis: Conduct compliance monitoring activities and provide analysis to identify and mitigate risks effectively.
Candidate Requirements
- Experience: Retail general insurance regulatory experience is essential.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of FCA regulations and the ability to provide practical, business-focused compliance advice.
- Stakeholder Management: Confident working with and influencing senior stakeholders, including Executive Committee members.
- Collaboration: A proven ability to work across diverse teams and functions, providing tailored compliance support.
- Drive: An ambition to step into a leadership role and take ownership of the compliance function.
Working Arrangements
- The role is based in Reading, which is commutable from London (20 minutes by train, plus a short walk).
- The expectation is to be in the office one day per week, with the rest of the time working from home.
Benefits
- Base Salary: £80,000 – £100,000
