Liquidity Forecasting Team Lead

My client is a large Asset Manager based in Abu Dhabi and seeks a Financial Forecasting Team Lead to conduct in-depth analysis on future returns, perform macroeconomic analysis, and understand liquidity factors affecting their endowment portfolio. This role involves close interaction with department management on portfolio analysis, reporting, and ad hoc requests.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed analysis on go-forward returns considering various scenarios and market conditions.
  • Perform macroeconomic analysis to identify factors impacting the endowment portfolio, returns, and liquidity.
  • Collaborate with investment teams to understand performance drivers and risks of different assets.
  • Evaluate and monitor the liquidity of the endowment portfolio and assess market conditions.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and market trends affecting liquidity and investment strategies.
  • Develop and maintain financial models for liquidity forecasting and portfolio optimization.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on portfolio performance, liquidity analysis, and investment recommendations.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes.
  • Ensure reporting and analysis methodologies follow industry best practices.
  • Review various analyses, reports, and presentations diligently.
  • Identify efficiencies and improvements in existing processes and procedures.
  • Address issues arising from new systems or reporting implementations independently.
  • Work with investment & support staff, service partners, and vendors to resolve issues and meet reporting requirements.
  • Carry out other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Relevant university degree.
  • Accountancy/CFA qualification preferable.
  • 8-12 years of experience in financial analysis, investment analysis, and liquidity management.
  • Experience with Asset Owners and/or large multi-asset class asset managers.

Technical Skills

  • Excellent Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in financial modeling.
  • Proven experience in evaluating and managing liquidity risks in investment portfolios.
  • Proficient in financial software and tools for analysis and modeling.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills (spoken & written).
  • Quick to learn new skills with a proactive approach to learning and training.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with diverse cultural backgrounds.

Management Accountability

  • Regularly review work results and ensure compliance with guidelines and procedures.
  • Create an environment encouraging team performance and productivity improvement.
  • Manage team with full accountability for achieving business objectives by empowering others.

Key Role Interfaces

  • Internally: Regular interaction across Finance Department employees and other Investment or Support departments.
  • Externally: Regular contact with external fund and portfolio managers for coordination purposes.
