My client is a retail banking firm focusing on lending and Savings.

They are looking for a senior compliance manager to be based out of their Birmingham office 3 days a week (2 from home).

They are looking for a strong retail banking compliance advisory officer with proven experience in retail banking products.

Detailed knowledge of the FCA handbook including MCOB, BCOBS, SYSC, PRIN and COCON is essential

Job responsibilities

  • Provide Compliance Advice, ensuring regulatory and conduct risk-focused advice aligns with regulatory expectations.
  • Act as an ambassador for compliance culture, maintaining high behavioural standards.
  • Provide technical compliance and conduct advice on regulatory change, remediation, new activities, and market shifts.
  • Support the Head of Compliance Advice in building a strong compliance culture and stakeholder engagement.
  • Identify, assess, and advise on regulatory changes, using industry best practices to develop practical solutions.
  • Deliver timely, accurate regulatory interpretation and advice, particularly on FCA-related themes impacting strategy.
  • Advise stakeholders and project teams on conduct regulation, risk management, and compliance policies.
  • Represent Compliance in key projects, offering specialist advice and challenge.
  • Present compliance matters to Senior Leaders and support communication of key regulatory messages.
  • Stay informed on industry best practices, sharing insights and influencing team direction.
  • Ensure effective governance reporting, escalating material compliance issues to relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain regulatory and conduct risk frameworks, ensuring consistent application across the Group.
  • Oversee the quality of compliance advice, managing daily processes, staff, and risks.
  • Ensure compliance with Risk Management and Data Governance Policies, prioritizing customer and data protection.
  • Maintain compliance standards, ensuring timely completion of mandatory training.
  • Manage and develop direct reports, overseeing performance, conduct, and development.
